Student Enrichment Results 2016-17 School Year

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD: Our third year team received 9th place overall at the San Diego Regional Competition this school year. We are starting to form our Science Olympiad Interest Group for 2017-2018 (Division B – Middle School Team).   We are looking for coaches or assistant coaches to coach our students in the 23 Science Olympiad events.  If you are interested to join our coaching team, please fill out this form.  We will contact you for planning meeting during summer.   If your students are interested in participating Science Olympiad for next school year, please fill out our Interest List.  Questions, please email so-headcoach@d39c.org
CyberPatriot:   D39C’s inaugural CyberPatriot team, which consists of 20 students in sixth through eighth grade, competed in the SoCal Cyber Cup Challenge in late March at UCSD, taking home third place in the middle school division. D39C also sent four student teams to participate in the CyberPatriot IX competition. Two of the four teams made it to the semi-finals and the top team placed in the top 16 percent out of 598 teams in the nation. For questions, please email cyberpatriot@d39c.org
SCIENCE FIELD DAY: Our inaugural D39C Science Field Day Team (4 & 5th graders) who competed at Elementary Science Field Day with 64 teams from 47 schools in San Diego County this past weekend. Our team competed in 9 out of 15 events and placed in all 9 events! The team walked away with 5 first place awards, 1 fourth place, and 3 fifth place awards. What a significant achievement for these first time participants! Thank you to all the coaches and parents volunteers.
QUIZ BOWL: Congratulations to our inaugural D39C Quiz Bowl National Team (Cole, Ian, Jaden, Muhan, Nitya, Rishi, Sarika, Siddhant, Sujaan) who competed at the Middle School National Tournament in Dallas, TX this past weekend. After many hours of playoffs, our school team ranks top 49 out of all 160 national teams. This is such an amazing result! Thank you to the dedication of our DNHS student coaches: April X. , Elizabeth P. & Michelle P who led the team to the National level. Check out more news from San Diego Union Tribune.
ODYSSEY OF THE MIND: Design39Campus sent its inaugural teams to compete in the Odyssey of the Mind Coastal Regional Tournament last weekend. Three Primary teams (2nd grade and under) and three Division 1 teams (5th grade and under) performed short skits that solved one of six long-term problems. Each team also competed in a spontaneous problem, which challenged their group problem-solving skills. We had two teams place in the competition! May Tse Lin’s Division 1 team took second place for the problem, “Classics… It’s Time Omer!” and Praveen Moorthy’s Division 1 team took third place for the problem, “Odd-a-Bot.” Congratulations to the more than 35 kids who competed on D39C teams this year!
