About The Collaborative
Poway Unified School District’s (PUSD’s) 39th and newest school, Design39Campus (“D39C”), opened its doors to students on Wednesday, August 20th, 2014. It represents the first public school of its kind and will forever change the way K-8 students learn. D39C reimagined just about everything about public school: from the physical design of its learning spaces, to the leveraging of cutting edge digital technologies, to the implementation of its core educational philosophies of Design Thinking and the Growth Mindset. This innovative approach to learning is a shining example of schools of the future and is already drawing great attention from school districts around the state, and across the country.
The D39C Collaborative (“The Collaborative”) supports D39C as the single entity tasked with the support functions traditionally carried out by both an educational foundation and a PTA chapter. The mission of The Collaborative is to secure funding to expand and enhance the educational experience of every student attending D39C and develop and support the campus culture and community. Like all public schools in California, D39C is impacted by state budgetary cuts and support from our community and business partners is critical to the success of our mission.
The organization incorporated on September 4, 2014 and recruited a highly qualified board of directors to govern its affairs. Simultaneously, the corporation established a relationship with the Poway Unified School District Foundation (PUSDF), EIN 54-2098945, to act as its tax-exempt fiscal sponsor while The Collaborative took proper measures to secure its own tax-exempt status.
The Collaborative conducts three primary activities in support of the organization’s mission:
• Building the D39C community and culture
• Donating funds to PUSD to support academic instruction at D39C.
The D39C Collaborative is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
