Note from D39C Traffic Chair: Volunteers Needed

Hello Design39 Families,

My name is Marlena Weldon and I am the Traffic and Safety chair for the Collaborative. You may have seen me, hard at work, keeping our kids safe in the kinder loop crosswalk in the morning. I think safety should be a top priority at D39, and I enjoy helping out to ensure our students have a safe environment, both inside and outside of our campus. However, I can’t do this alone!

You may be asking yourself, how can I help? I have the perfect volunteer opportunity for those who are short on time, but want to lend a helping hand. We are in need of traffic assistance in the afternoons. Our current needs are 2 crossing guards in the kinder loop, as well as one crossing guard at the exit to the main parking lot. We could also use a helping hand guiding the traffic in the kinder loop. The best part of this opportunity, is that we only ask that you commit to 15 minutes of your day. That’s right, only 15 minutes! We can help pedestrians cross safely, and keep the flow of traffic moving, and we can have the kinder loop operating like a well oiled machine. Again, I can’t do this alone. Please consider volunteering your time!

Please see the attached Sign Up Genius, and sign up for one, two, or  as many spots as you can manage! Your help is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, or concerns regarding this volunteer opportunity, please reach out to me at any time at
I look forward to seeing you at the loop!! Thank you in advance for your time and dedication!

Sincerely, Marlena Weldon
